www.limanhouse.com is the home page of the club "I Sibillini", a group of folks so fond of hangliding and paragliding, good food and have fun all together. The website is full of technical information as well as funny stuff. At the moment, as the funny stuff is basically in Italian and dialect, we cannot provide a good translation. In this page some basic technical and practical information is available.

Our flights. The flying site of Sarnano is located within the National Park of Monti Sibillini (click here for more info in english) and is a very special one:

• the take off is East oriented and hence it is possible to benefit from solar heating since early morning

• the mountain range is around 40 km long from Caccamo Lake (15 km North) to Mount Vettore (25 km South): within this range short cross country flights are possible being sure to easily close them

  the mountain range faces a wide plain until the sea (around 40 km West): wind and weather conditions are generally safe and easy to analyze and forecast

• official landings apart, the plain in front of the mountains offers a wide range of safe landings, easily reliable also for retrieval

• our flying site is close to other flying areas: expert pilots have the chance for great cross country performances (click here to see our record page, in Italian)

We fly the best in spring and summer, but also fall and winter often reserve good conditions:

• typical summer flying (from may to september) is based on average lift rates, no heavy turbulence and wide thermals very well separated from each other. Over the cliff there is a light thermo-dynamical flow that permits good and safe soaring until sunset. Conditions are not strong and pilots of all levels find their way for fun, training and performance

• during the winter conditions are weaker, but - no matter for the snow that can be very high - you may find good conditions with thermals. Weakest and worst weather conditions are in the core winter (december - february), while fall and spring can be very good

Il covo dei limani (the Limans' Lair ). Liman is a metaphorical definition from the dialect by which we label wild animals like bears, wolves and wild boars: the same characteristics hold for the folks of the club. So the name of our lair in the wood (click here for some pics of the Covo). In the Covo you can have food, hosting in a clean and warm open space (around 30 bunk beds) and camping. Mantainance and repairing services are available for pilots and it is also possibile to try new products from various companies (Up, Swing, Nova, etc.).

Covo is located half way between take off and landing and it is easily accessible by car.

The School. The National flight school "Sibillini" is one of the first and oldest flight schools in Italy. It is a wonderful opportunity to enter the magic world of flying, a n excellent way to relax and feel high under the guidance and advice of instructors with more than twenty years of experience. Training takes place with high standards of security.
